【Activity Report】FC Nono boys gave a presentation of their activities at the Embassy of Japan in India, and the Ambassador visited our activity site in Bihar!

Hello! We are FC Nono, a social football team in Bihar, India, dedicated to empowering underprivileged children through football activities.


We are pleased to report that we were invited by the Embassy of Japan in India this June. Two boys on the FC Nono boys’ team, who take active roles as kids' coaches, and the founder Nozomu Hagihara gave a presentation on our activities! The boys were visiting Delhi to participate in a leadership coaching session, and were invited to the Embassy on that occasion.


Impressed by the two boys’ confident answers, the Embassy staff asked many questions and gave words of encouragement to the boys, which made us very happy and proud.




On June 26, Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan in India, visited FC Nono's activity site in Bihar, led by the local FC Nono director and the kids' coaches!



During the visit, the Ambassador joined the children in the practice for interaction, along with observing how the two boys took charge of the practice as coaches.






We are very grateful to the Embassy of Japan in India for giving us this opportunity. We hope it was also a wonderful opportunity for the Embassy to recognize the existence of grassroots activities through sports.


There is a famous speech by Nelson Mandela, Former President of the Republic of South Africa, which Mr. Hagihara admires.


"Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination."


He was a leader of the movement against apartheid, a policy of racial segregation, and promoted the peaceful democratization of South Africa through non-violence. At the same time, he was known as a sports enthusiast, and the above is a famous speech he gave on the power of sports.


Sports have a great power in the rural areas of India.


We at FC Nono will continue to build bridges between Japan and India and work toward realizing our vision of a society where hard work is rewarded through football activities.
